Hi Shannon, hope you're all recovered. After completing the half I am more excited than ever about Tempe. I definitely need to work on my swimming but now that the warm weather has returned I'll be able to spend more time doing open water swims out at the lakes. What are your feelings about Tempe?
This will be my first tri so I'm a little nervous but I've put in the time and miles and am ready for this. Sorry to hear about the distractions during your training, life always happens. At the very least you'll get a break from your routine. I'm in the 45 - 49 age group so I have to sit around for an hour after the first wave. I'll probably take my breakfast with me for the wait. Which group are you in?
Hi Shannon. Will these be your first HIM and IM? Training is going well, I thought I would use the HIM as a measure of my preparation for Tempe. My swimming is what is in need of help but then again I just started swimming back in November. How is your training going? Have you had to deal with a lot of unfavorable weather?
Hey girl! I hought I responded to you and I just realized I didn't. Shoot me a text or call tonight! I'd love to make tomorrow work if it still does for you. Otherwise we can look at another time. I would have to bring my kids tomorrow is the only catcher. My cell is 509-969-6452. TTYS
Hey there! Registration is actually on Monday and trust me...I will type fast!!!!! I can't wait! OMG. I'm soooo excited. Sunday I won't be sleeping. The thought of snow and registration...OMG! Euphoria all the way! WOOOOOHOOOOOO
Hi Shannon! Please forgive me. I thought I had made contact with you and looking at your profile the last time I said hi was over 15 days ago. UGH! I'm usually way better with communication. How are you? I love your under 6:20 goal for sure. Wheels are definitely something I'd like to start saving for. I just got hired a few weeks ago as a personal trainer at a local gym so I'm making headway on that little business adventure. Hopefully that money can move closer to purchasing some of the equipment I want (Garmin 310 xt, wheels, new helmet, clothing). You asked about a HR monitor and no I don't wear one. I think they are a great investment for someone who doesn't know their body very well but I'm WELL INTUNE with my body. As a Health teacher I feel educated enough to know when to ramp it up or take it down. So far in all of my training I've been very blessed with a healthy body. During Lake Stevens I pulled back on the run (Should have finished under 2 hours) because my body was telling me it was too hot to push it. I'm glad I didn't because I know too many people who felt like crap after that race and even some who needed medicatl attention. I was jumping up and down as well as smiling when I crossed the finish line. I know I'm not going to be in the top 5 % of my AG and I'm okay with that. I'm all about the experience. The HR monitor has its benefits for sure but if you listen to your body closely...it will tell you what you need to do and not do. :)
Hi girl! So your hubby is home. I bet that is a wonderful thing but I'm sure the transition will take some time. Praise God he made it home safely. I too am nursing an injury and haven't run in 5 weeks but I'm on the mend and smiling. :) So, now that you have your new bike do have this urge to want to buy different components? Once you get a nice bike it is hard to resist the urge to want to make it even better (i.e. wheels, helmet, different handlebars, etc). I'm so happy for you girl. I'd love to catch up for sure. I can bike and swim any time. The weather is transitioning so if you'd like to get out before frostbite forms on our hands let me know. I'll make something happen so I can be sure to ride with you. Happy Friday!!!
Yep in the midst of a serious taper for sure. I was in Spokane this past week for a conference so it forced me to lay low totally. Did a 20 mile bike ride and a 1 mile swim today. Getting super excited. Expo is tomorrow! Holy cow! I can't believe it is here. How are you?
Hey u! Yep the days are going way to fast at this point. I ended up taking today off to relax and sort out some stuff in my mind. Feeling stressed about life in general and now the race is rapidly coming. UGH. Anyways, hope all is great in your neck of the woods. Hugs
You will be greatly missed my friend but I think it is awesome you're going to help her out. We may ride on Tuesday also but I'll let you know. How's your summer going? We've been living it up at the lake!!!!! I love summer. Hope all is good for you. Have a great weekend.
Hey girl! Hope all is going well for you. IDK what you're doing on Sunday but if you wanna come up and ride on Sunday a group of us were going to do the Lake Stevens course. Your little one can hang out at my house with my kiddos even. Just a thought. :)
Hey girl! I hope all is going well for you. I've had a tough week with the stomach flu. I haven't been actually sick sick in 2 years so I was flatlined this week. I was stuck in bed for about 30 hours and still haven't really chowed down on anything yet. I did get a workout in today and it felt good but afterwards my tummy went crazy but during the workout at least it didn't. :) Maybe tomorrow I'll actually get out on the bike. Gonna take it really slow this week simply cuz' I know my glycogen levels are super low since I haven't eaten much this week. Not the diet plan I was going for the week before a race. Oh, well. I'll survive. Done complaining...so in the next couple weeks take a look at your schedule and let's plan a playdate. Super fun for sure!!!!!!! Would love to catch up. Well, I zipped over to Wenatchee for a wedding today and back home so sleepy time is now. TTYS Hugs
Hey girlie! I'm so glad you've been able to find a niche to fill your time. I give you and the other spouses all props because I know I wouldn't be able to do it. It's hard being a single parent and that only happens when my husband's out of town for business. We have some neighbors who are in the military and she will be shipping out this fall and we plan to help out tons and tons just cuz' that's what I feel we are supposed to do...support one another right? :) That would be super awesome if you made it up to Chelanman. It is totally sold out and I've hear awesome things about the race. I'm really looking forward to it. Working on plans right now actually. Woohoo!!!! I think it would be awesome to do our first full together. I'd like to volunteer in 2011 and do it in 2012. I just have some stuff in life I have finish up first and then I can move forward in my tri goals. Sometimes I feel like I bit off too much this year but I'm going to take a stab at LS and see what happens. When do you move? Sizzling sounds good right now considering how flipping cold it has been. You and your son are welcome to come up and watch LS if you want. :) hehhehe I'll need all the support I can get. Ya know if you ever wanted to come up, bring your son, we could have either my hubby or a babysitter watch the kiddos and we can go for a ride and/or swim. We love having company so anytime you wanna come up...come on up girl! We'd have a blast!!!! Well, time to relax for the night. Up early to swim since I skipped out today. Hugs
Hey Shannon! Happy Friday! I have a 6 year old daughter and a 3 (almost 4) year old so I totally understand the kids and training life. I do have a husband who is home though so I give you all props for continuing to seek your passions, goals and dreams basically as a single parent at the moment. You go girl! Sounds like you have a full race schedule ahead. I basically plan to do 5 races per year and I did 1 marathon in May, this last weekend's Olympic tri, next month's Olympic in Lake Chelan and LS's HIM. In December I HAVE TO (hehehehe) go to a conference in Las Vegas so I decided to run the marathon there too. :) Maybe just maybe get my time under 4 hours...maybe even qualify for Boston? Lofty goal considering that is 30 minutes I have to cut off. We'll see. Let me know when you're looking torwards a full IM. I'm considering 2012 or 2013 maybe???? We could try to do the same one and even do some training together (share childcare...hehehe). Just a thought. Well, I hope you have a great weekend. Hugs
