More than a few folks have been in touch asking for directions to my place. If you are coming from anywhere outside of Asia you'll need to take a connecting flight to Haikou (HAK). There are some crazy super deals within the region, from Kuala Lumpur or Singapore. I saw these prices advertised on 8 Feb for travel during race week.

209USD/759 Ringgitt from KL (return, including taxes, Air Asia)
172USD/260 SG$ from Singapore (return, including taxes, Tiger Airways)

Oh, and if you want to find somewhere to stay here's a couple of options.

1. Trust the trusty Ken Glah at Endurance Sports Travel. Former Ironman Champ Ken will fix you up with a great deal at the Crown Spa and Resort, Ironman China's official host hotel and really take care of you during your visit to China.

2. Book directly with the "">Bao Hua Hotel, Ironman China's preferred overflow hotel. Rates include free Internet access and Chinese-style breakfast buffet for two. (For noodle and rice phobics: Western-style breakfasts are available, first one free, second can be purchased for RMB30- less than $5).

The Bao Hua hotel is at the edge of Evergreen Park where you can run and cycle away from city traffic.

Has anyone travelled with Air Asia before ? My bike box is 10cms over their acceptable length (although the width of my box is much less), Air Asia say they will not accept the box for travel if it does not comply with their dimensions, even if I am travelling with them to take part in the Ironman.
Does anyone have any different info ? I tried to email them at guestsupport@airasia.com but have not received an answer and their callcentre staff were unable to help.
