Well, I signed up for a du event. This will be my very first time ever competing in anything sports related! It is 3.1 miles running, 12 miles biking and 3.1 miles running again.
The competition is with myself. It is between my old habits and the new persona I am creating every day. In a sense is like reinventing myself since the old me wasn't working very well.
I will get into this event with one goal in my mind and when my body gets exhausted and starts protesting I will dig deeper into my heart. My goal is to complete the event, to enjoy it, to embrace the place were I am physically today and to have fun knowing that it is only one step closer to my goal, and it is a part of my IM journey.
I am probably going to be last in the event and that is okay by me. It is what it is and I am where I am. The new goods is I can always improve. I just want to experience the satisfaction of crossing that line. My husband said that he and our son will waiting for me at the crossing line. To me, there will beno greater motivator then seeing them there with a big smile and open harms.
In a different note, I will be starting my swimming lessons on Sep 5, I don't feel comfortable just yet participating in a sprint tri, but since this event doesn't include water, I think it will be challanging, exiting and an adventure, and probably I can survive it, I mean complete it. LOL.
I will probably pay the price the next day after the event but focusing on why I am doing this will mitigate my recovery aches. I will continue training and until that day, I will enjoy every step of the way.
