Before we departure I did 30 km on bike in the garage watching "Hotel Rwanda" movie. Now we are hoping to leave and reach Szlarska Poreba around 10 pm.

The Journey began a month a go with the big race in sight and plenty of time to deal with training and the daily challenges life throws at us. I shot this quick video last night before heading back home to put the finishing touches on last minute gift wrapping and cooking for Christmas dinner.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone.

Well its christmas day and the kids loved the presents that good ol' saint nick has brought.
I think that my nutrition will be going down hill this weekend. Can't complain though, who would. Maybe leftovers all week will get me motivated to work harder next week. Merry Christmas everyone!!

As a kid, I grew up poor. Understanding that statement in full would take more time than I have available for writing this entry. To put it into perspective though, it's taken my wife 5 years to fully understand my definition of poor.
I guess I could've sat her down and explained each and every situation but that's just not something I felt was necessary. But over time, the stories were told and one day, not too long ago, she looked at me and said: "You were poor!" To which I… Continue

Wow! 2009 was quite a year, complete with some great races, awesome new friends and my first major bike crash which took me out of play for about three months from September to November - separated shoulder and broken rib. Sharing the road with 4000 lb vehicles can be hazardous to your health, especially when the drivers are blind, texting, having sex or doing something other than watching the road. I ended up missing my key race for the year, the Florida IM in November but managed to get to… Continue

Well, Today I think I am going to go for a 25 mile bike ride in the 32 degree air. Followed up by a 3 mile run, and if time maybe I will make it over to the YMCA for a .5 mile swim. Merry Christmas everyone.

I´ll make my first post in my own blog, ever.. I am very excited about it. I recently signed up for this website. Unfortunately, I can´t remember how I discovered this website. But it doesn´t matter.
Anyway, I´ll tell you a little bit ´bout myself. Please correct my shabby english if you want to comment. I am from Sweden, and our education in english is pretty extensive. But since I graduated from the american equivalent of high school (last fall) I haven´t been so… Continue

As 2009 wraps up, I realize I have many triathlon-related accomplishments to reflict on and be proud of. I decided to put these accomplishments out there for anyone to see. Next week, I will post my goals for triathlon-related goals for 2010. For now, however, a quick look back:
I began my triathlon career in January 2008, when I began training for my very first triathlon, Ironman 70.3 Boise. That race was in June 2008, and it went well (6:41 finishing time). After that race, I… Continue

I am preparing myself for the big events of 2010. I plan to post the goals, milesones and thoughts while training.
Since my September debut on IRONMAN distance I got the feeling of a chance to participate in KONA IM Championships. I have decided to gibe myself 3 chances for that, so the optimum will be if qualified in 2012. That year I will be in 40+ age category so the chances should be high.
But back to plans for 2010
First I want to crush the 2h57' personal best in… Continue

BUSY BUSY BUSY!!!! Getting divorced, talking with lawyers, work 12 hours a day 7 days a week, starting school again, and starting to sell Cutco again to make a little extra money for child support. Did I mention sleep, eat, and train too? Not much sleep to be had here in Iraq though.

Déjà vu. I've been down this road once before and I decided I liked it so much I wanted to do it again. There are a couple of small changes but I think the rice addition was a nice touch.
I wish there was a way to tell how hot the peppers are because sometimes three sets my hair on fire and then there are times like last night where I wish it had more flame. Regardless, this is a meal fit for a King -- as long as the Queen gives him permission to make it. :)…

I have a question, and need an opinion from other members who might be a little more experienced than myself...
I have already signed up to do the KCTri (website: http://www.kctri.org/
) on May 23rd. I want to sign up for the Kansas 70.3 on June 6th, and then I have a local Sprint set for June 20th time frame.
My question would be is this to much to do in a short amount of time?
A little background on me is that I am by no… Continue

Never have done an actual road cycling race. i live in Ohio and there are a serise of road cycling races starting in April and run up til June which is when my tri season begins. I would have to get a CAT 5 beginner license and the races for CAT 5 are around 30 miles. I would have to buy a road bike and train on it for a awhile before racing. The question is how bad will i get my butt kicked and would those races and the training benefit me for the June tri season.

So Christmas is this week. I don't know about all of you but my Christmas eve is full with Church stuff (I am a pastor after all) and then Christmas day is full with family. How do you train? I have plans on Swimming and Biking very Early on Christmas eve since my gym is open and 3 blocks from the church. Then Christmas day I plan on doing two shorter runs before the two meals I am supposed to go to. I am posting this just to ask all of you what your training or lack of training plans are. Have… Continue

Healthy considerations did not play a role in my cooking process when I first learned how to cook friend chicken. The chicken was dipped in a mixture of flour and spices and then fried in a pan filled with Crisco. The outside would turn golden brown, a crunchy shell would form, and it was absolutely delicious.
If you wanted to go southern style, you could make gravy from the flour with milk and some of the dripping from the frying pan. It was artery clogging… Continue

Alright after a month and a half of floundering in the pool and feeling like my body is fighting the water, I decided to hire a swim coach. Don't get me wrong I do feel more comfortable in the water and feel like I've made progress since I've started, but I don't feel like I've come along enough. I had a bad swim Wednesday night and after dropping the f bomb twice in the parking lot of the pool (really loud with on one around) I came to the following conclusions.
1. By working with a… Continue

I got another opportunity to use my fancy rice cooker. I can't believe that I used to make rice in a pot. I was in the middle of doing a trainer session when I hopped off, threw the rice in the cooker, and jumped back on while it was doing the work. It doesn't get any better than that. :)
This is fairly simple to make and was quite tasty although I think I might add chicken on my next attempt. What can I say? Not really much to add, it's something new although I feel like I've made… Continue
