I used to race seriously, now I just am a wanna be. I am trying to re-focus this year. I am hoping that the past 10 years of limited training/ racing will have preserved my body a little. I love the sport and I hope to be doing triathlons for years to come.
My Tri Story:
In 1998,I finished Ironman Hawaii for the second time. I was in the best shape of my life and thought that the next season, I would be closing in on going pro. I had been the top female athlete in the southeast for shorter distances, and I was racing well. Then, I found out 3 weeks after the race that I was 4 weeks pregnant. Probably why I struggled some on the run. Since then,I have never gotten back into racing seriously. It is hard to believe so much time has passed and I have allowed myself to get so out of shape. I still train but it is nothing serious. I want to get back to "feeling" like an athlete again.
We were lucky.....only 1 day w/o power. So you are a swim coach for local tri club? You have a great background.....so you know you can do this again. I am training 6 days per wk....pants don't fit....down to 153 lbs....sleep like a baby....large appetite.....sound familar to your 1998 days? I need help with swimming....taking little baby steps....fatigued after 25 yds with high heart beat. Maybe I can drive to Owensboro over next few wks to help me in pool with my swimming?......Bob
