Hope everyone is feeling good about the race. Am pretty anxious myself about the swim. 55 would be really really cold, comparable to a bay swim in SF.. frightfully cold for me. Lets all wish for perfect balmy, warm, mild weather with only the winds…
According to the USGS site, water temperature is 8.7C which is 47.6F. That is being measured at a depth of 8.96 feet and was current as of 1pm. The swim is going to be damn cold... I'll need to wear my mittens. Almost froze to death last year at AZ…
Hey, its been awfully quiet on the site? Where is everyone.... probably working out. Its a big build week for me as well, for the next three weeks. Anyway, for IMCDA, my wife is not going to be able to be there. Thus, I am thinking of getting a real…
HI Eric P, thanks for all the great local info and being the eyes and ears for the rest of us. Do you by chance know some of the grades in percent? Also, do you know the total elevation gain for a loop of the bike course. In the Bay Area (California…

Triathlete and Ironman. Completed my first this year (2009), IM China in 113 degrees heat. What an inferno. Glad to have that one done. Next up, IM Arizona.
Running for the past two years, speed and endurance continue to accumulate. Its now probably on par with bike strength that in contrast was built over 9 years of mountain biking and rode biking.
Currently working out 10-16 hrs a week, lots of weekend rides, running, and swimming. Working out with Silicon Valley Tri Club, Grizzly Peak Cyclists, and team Hypercat.
My Tri Story:
Background in mountain biking and started rode biking in 2002. Inspired by Lance. Couple of centuries in 2007 and decided to go do a Triathlon. Really inspired by summer trip in 2007 while on the Big Island; caught the tri bug - the spirit of Aloha, the Queen K, and the lava fields made me dream of a Kona slot. Trained like 6 hours a week for my first tri, SF Triathlon at Treasure Island. At the time, that seemed like a lot of hours, working out 5 or 6 days a week. Now, my workouts are up to 8 - 10 times per week; there are days with double and triple workouts.

Hey Steve! Congrats on your race! I guarantee you finished WAY ahead of me :) the race was amazing.. I love the course... I did shave a little over a minute per mile on my run which I was pleased with.... My bike course could hav ebeen shortened by at least ten minutes, but I stopped several times to help people out... which of course i lost momentum. I was shooting for 5:30, but lost some time... It's all good! You'll have a great season coming up.. stay focused and train hard!! This long distance stuff KILLS me :) The short stuff.. I am much better at! :) lol Cheers!
