In a nutshell, I was riding the other day and a driver opened his car door. It happened so fast, I did not have time to react. I split my ear for 10 stiches, mild concussion, and a cracked carbon…Continue

Hey Matthew,

Clermont's Great Floridian is a quite popular IM distance tri in Central FL. Many triathletes train on its course here - especially up Sugar Loaf Mtn. You should check it out, sometime. The have a summer series tri races going on (this weekend, in fact). Good luck with the training! Aloha!

Matthew - Thanks for the note. I have done the Clermont Ultra, also known as The Great Floridian Triathlon. I completed it in Oct 2008 and was my first Iron-Distance triathlon (It still is until I complete IM Louisville this August.) I personally thought it was a great, well organized race. It's a two loop fresh water swim (but can get choppy if it's windy), an interesting bike and a flat run. The bike has some challenging hills in the first 35 - 40 miles (including Sugarloaf Mt. Road!) which I was able to train on. That hill training was well worth it. The remaining 70-75 miles is mostly flat.

I'd recommend it for all Florida triathletes. It's cheaper and closer than an M-Dot event, and it's a great part of the state to race. It is not, of course, a Kona qualifier, but a great Iron-distance tri that's close to home for those in FL.

No fun for those of you with thin blood for sure. We were in the high 50's yesterday and my daughters and I were able to get outside and even wash the car. My oldest was thrilled to see her "hard work" because the Tribeca looks "brand new". I love it! The girls took a lot of pride in washing it...I simply wanted to go down to the car wash and be done but nope...out came the hose, soap, bucket and towels. Good times.

What do you do for a living? What got you into doing tri's? Goals for this year?

Happy Monday! I'm already double fisting...coffee that is! :)

Hey there! I love the beach pictures! We live about 10 minutes from the beach but our beach is CHILLY!!! It is beautiful here but just not the same. But today...I'll take the heat we have over the chills going on down where you are. :) Thanks for the add. How are ya?
