"I would wear the sock living here and knowing how cold the water is.  Maybe duck tape with medical sissors in you transition bag (shave your legs first).  In 52-53 degree water your socks WILL make a difference, I think it's worth a…"

best in-depth review blog site

I came across this guys site back when I was considering purchasing a Garmin watch. This guy has the best in depth reviews of just about anything you can think of involved with tris. He's become quite popular, and because of the amount of traffic that comes to his site, he gets a small kick back from amazon.com. And because he is pretty much awesome, he uses that kick back to say thanks to his readers by giving away stuff. This month, a Timex Global Trainer. Check it out here...…See More

"Jason, have you run a marathon before? If so, what's your PR? I haven't looked at the qualifying times in a while, but if you are 26, your BQ time is 3:05 from what I remember. A 1:34:04 half-marathon is a great time, but that would…"

half marathon training, week 10

Only one more week until the race! I'm feeling pretty good about this race, and all I'm hoping to accomplish is to set a new PR for the half marathon, which would be finishing under 1:53:17. I've been training to run at a 7:50/mile pace, but that goal race was to be in late October. I'm pretty much assuming I won't be able to hold that tempo, since I will only be 11 weeks into an 18 week program, but hopefully I'll have at least put in enough time to set a new PR. So here is last weeks workout,…See More

Goofy/Boston training results are in!!!

Posted on January 17, 2011 at 10:01pm 4 Comments

Last weekend, I completed my goal race, or race weekend, which was a 5k on Friday, half marathon on Saturday, and marathon on Sunday.  Well, I finished the marathon in 3:10:25, which qualified me for the Boston Marathon!  Somehow, everything went exactly right on race day, and I was able to squeak by with a whopping 35 seconds to spare.  If you'd like to read my whole race report, about the marathon or either of the other two races, you can check it out at…

Goofy/Boston Week 5 Review

Posted on December 17, 2010 at 11:10pm 0 Comments

Here is part 2 of my delayed training blog.  As I said in the previous post, I have fallen a couple of weeks behind.  This will be the last post to catch me up, and will also be my last post on this site.  My new site is here.  But for now, here is a recap of how week 5 went:

Note:  I was on vacation at Disneyland during this week of training, so I knew I wasn't going to be as motivated to get them in.  But it…

Goofy/Boston Week 6 Review

Posted on December 17, 2010 at 10:47pm 0 Comments

Well, I've fallen way behind.  No, not on my training, but on my blog!  Normally, I post about what happened the previous week, and then my schedule for the upcoming week.  It's currently week 4, and my last blog was about week 7.  So, for this blog, I'm just going to recap week 6.  Then, I'll write another one recapping week 5.  And finally, I'll write one more blog, with the info about my new blog site!  More on that later.  Here's how week 6 went:

Goofy/Boston Training Week 7 recap, Week 6 preview

Posted on November 27, 2010 at 10:46pm 0 Comments

Another week down in the books! This week was much better than last week. My injuries have seemed to all heal up, or healed enough that they don't bother me. At this point, it seems as if whatever I did last week to heal myself must have worked. Only time will tell if it was the right thing to do in the long run. So here's the recap for week 7:

Run 1

3 x (2 x 1200m @ 4:24 with 2:00 RI) with 4:00 RI

- I had to get this one in on the treadmill, which sucks. But, it was able to… Continue

Goofy/Boston Training, Week 8 review, Week 7 preview

Posted on November 20, 2010 at 9:22pm 0 Comments

Ok. Last week, my update on my training schedule didn't have that great of an outlook for the coming week, week 8. I explained how I had a little soreness behind my knees, which subsided but led to a very tight left hamstring. Because of this, I decided to alter my training plans for this week. Normally, I do 4 runs per week. For this week, I decided to take the first run off and see how I felt after that. Well, my hamstring was still feeling pretty tight, so I ended up skipping the second run… Continue

Looking at your picture and shirt, I think I saw you on the locale news this morning. If your bib was something like 11484 that was probably you. Good going on the race and track #11. I am a huge fan of Jay and the boys.
