Irresponsible triathletes who dream of quitting their jobs and because they can't, schedule work around their training. You know you'd quit your job and train 24/7 if you could afford it.

Things I do inbetween training sessions, work as an engineer, volunteer with a group that takes at risk youth into the backcountry, teach ski lessons, find local music and rock out with my friends.
My Tri Story:
I was tricked. I was a running and cyclist and had a friend say "you should do the Grizzly (a sprint), how hard can it be to learn to swim" and I said "yeah, swimming can't be that bad." I had never tried to swim apart from not drowning in my life! Two months later I pulled my half drown body from a pool, confused, tired, and unsure if I could even unrack my bike much less finish the race. Some how I finished and said, "want to do it again?" so I contacted the university tri team and that was that.
Tri Experience:
Age grouper, Coach, It's my livelihood
Tri Distance:
Sprint, Olympic
Tri Interest:
Training Partners, Training Groups, Event Meet-ups, Business Relationships, Friends, Dating
Yep- I like my job so far. I just found out this week that they might send me to Puerto Rico for a few months next year! That would be pretty sweet. Why are you frustrated with your job? Yea, you might just beat me to CO. We have had nice weather for the last week- snow almost gone. I'm a seasoned Minnesotan though and I know better than to get my hopes up for the end of winter. Happy training!- indoors and/or out.
Ha ok well it's not THAT set in stone that I am moving to CO. I just have always wanted to move there and all of my immediate family just moved there etc etc. I just started my first job and i really like it though so it won't be for a few more years until I seriously think about it. But I really want to get out there- there's so much cool stuff to do out there and a longer season to do it in! I got a few friends that just moved to the Springs too.
Hey! yea I have about had it with winter too. It'd be one thing if it was only 3 mo.- but it's about 5 or 6! I definitely will be moving to CO in a few years. Where you thinking of moving to?
Hey Jonathan! Glad to see another engineer and triathlete! Your story is pretty great- I feel similar in that I had to work on swimming the most- my answer to the question, "Can you swim?" was, "....Well, if you throw me in a pool I won't drown!" I also joined the tri club at my school to get into it-I just did my first Tri and I had a blast!! Can't wait to do more!! Good luck with training!
Hey Jonathan - Nice to know that I helped in some way getting you into triathlons. Back in 1987, me and some friends in college (Oregon State University - Note the OSU jersey in my photo) started a triathlon club and the whole experience really changed my life forever. I even met my wife through doing triathlons! See you around Bozeman...
Hi Jonathan! Love your page and the airplane photo made me laugh!
Sounds like you do indeed have your priorities in order. ;o)
Life is good and we are blessed. ~bonnie
Good morning Jonathan, it's great to meet you too. My son Caleb wrote and performs the song on my site in memory of my sister Melissa who died last year of breast cancer. Hope you liked it ;)
I saw your questoin about working 4 ten hour days. I do and I love it. I work Tuesday thru Friday 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday is my long bike, Sunday my long run, Monday my long swim and another long bike. On the days I work, I swim two more times for about 60 min. Our pool opens at 4:45 a.m. I run two more times during the week, either before or after work. I get my third bike in during the week at night after dinner. I bought a spin bike so I can ride inside if it's too dark or bad weather. It's much more bearable than riding the bike on a trainer.
