"Just signed up for Hawaii 70.3 and both excited and anxious. It'll be my first 70.3 since 2004. I did IM CdA in 05, Korea 06, and Japan in 07 then life got in the way...deployed to AFG in 09 returned in 10 and now stationed on Oahu. Any…"
"Hydration: 15 bottles on the bike; 50 cups on the run; 14 salt tablets; many gels...clearly, I was paranoid about DNFing due to hydration issues...but only peed twice! Stomach resembled a camel. Took a lot of mental fortitude…"
Thanks for the reply. My website is www.intraining.biz. I am in the process of updating it as we speak (I have not updated it is over 4 years...yikes!). And below is a snapshot of what I offer for online coaching.
Starting around $100 per month, any athlete (new or experienced) can benefit from In Training’s online coaching that includes:
• A custom written monthly training program (not a canned program that many online coaches download from the Internet). This plan will factor in your entire race schedule and include base training, build, endurance work, intervals, speed work, heart rate training, recovery, peaking, taper, strength training, etc., etc. The training plans will include all race distances, from Sprint to Ironman, and from beginner to experienced athletes!
• Unlimited communication with the coach. Most online coaches limit their communication with their athletes. In Training has an open-door policy and encourages their athletes to communicate as often as they’d like. Communication will include workout follow ups, pre-race and race day nutrition, equipment questions, mental and pre-race/race day strategies, etc., etc.
• Discounts will be offered when purchasing online coaching packages in 3, 6 and 12 month packages. Also, there are no "start-up" fees of any kind like most online coaching companies charge.
Way to go on all your IM races! I am USA Triathlon Certified Coach, an ISSA Certified Fitness Trainer, a Kona Ironman World Championship Triathlete, and own/operate In Training LLC, Utah's first fulltime triathlon coaching company. I have been coaching for 8 years now, have coached over 600 athletes, and have been competing myself for about 11 years. As well as coaching locally, I also offer online coaching so if you're ever interested in learning more about my online coaching services, please feel free to ask! Oh, my rates for online coaching are probably the best in the country!
And I am also very familiar with the IMSG course, and coached about 15 athletes for it last year, as well as 5 so far for the 2011 race. I also take my athletes down to the venue a few times before the race to pre-ride and pre-run the course in late Feb/Mar/Apr as well.
Hey Douglas, good luck with Ironman Florida. You're going to love that course. I haven't done it myself, but have heard a lot of good things about it.
You're going to be happy with your tri bike on that IMSG course. I have a Cervelo P2C (same as you, by the photo on your wall), and really felt that it was the way to go. When I rode the course last weekend, those aero bars really came in handy on the downhill (only 3 climbs of any real significance).
You're going to be in great shape after you finish Florida. Remember to take a couple of weeks easy before you get into the thick of things again. Your body will thank you.
