"Thanks for the info, glad I made the trip this weekend. The water was great and I learned some lessons on the bike that I didn't want to learn the hard way on race day; very valuable. Hwy 267 is deceiving and will require a lot of patience come…"
"For those of you who've been to Tahoe in the last 2 weeks, or are there now, can you give me a thumbs up or down to plan Sept 7 & 8 in Tahoe? I've heard mixed comments on the smoke. It's a 6 hour drive each way…"
"That's great advice Kirsten . . .I've been doing some open water swims at a lake near my house in Northern Utah, similar altitude. I'm a slow swimmer and usually hit 2 miles in an hour and was getting nauseous, yesterday I backed off…"
"Got your message - where in town are you going to be staying? That will determine the ride/running routes. If you're downtown, you can run on the Truckee River trail - as far as you could possibly want to run.

A good pool can be found at SportsWest, a club located in mid-town Reno. They have a masters program, and quite a few local triathletes swim there. A Saturday ride also leaves from there at or around 8:30.
Let me know where in town you'll be staying, and I'll get you a recommendation on bike routes, but a few that come to mind are Washoe Lake from downtown, Moundhouse up to Virginia City and a few others.
Hey Whitney! Yes, I definitely suggest some long runs on the treadmill without headphones! That's what I'm going to do. Also, the course has some slight uphills. Nothing like rollers or anything fun but some looooong, mellow, uphill climbing. So, I'm planning on setting my treadmill at a slight incline and will plan on just hanging out there for 30 mins at a time. Good luck! :)
I'd love to coach your for IMCDA (since your training is beginning now). If you're interested, call me and/or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Oh, I own Utah's first and only full-time coaching facility....if you've raced locally, I am sure you've heard of me.
