Didn't expect that

Posted on October 16, 2008 at 2:56pm 0 Comments

Raced an Olympic distance a couple of weeks ago and PR'd and got second in my age group. Certainly didn't expect that this year as my focus has been on 70.3 distance.

It was my first race on the Q-Rings. I think they really made a difference. I would recommend them if you are considering any upgrades to your bike.

What upgrades have you made to your bikes this year? Did they make the difference you planned?

Clearwater bound!

Well, I got my slot! I qualified for Clearwater at Lake Stevens 70.3 in Washington state. I had my fastest half marathon in a 70.3 race by 13 minutes (1:35 vs previous best 1:48) and yet I only got my slot by 1 minute.

Lake Stevens was a great course though. Clear swim, bike and run with a couple of hills. Great weather.

It is also set up well for spectators. The transition is right in the middle of the main part of town. Across from transition is a coffee shop, Subway,… Continue

It's starting. At first I was not measuring the speed just getting the miles in. Now I am recording all of it. There is a great program to log stuff on beginnertriathlete.com. I like how I can see how much I have completed that week so I know what I need to do. I'm Patti678 on there if you want to check out my log.

So far so good. I just had the best run of my life. Ran 5 miles. And it flew by. Loved it even though my ipod battery died at mile one. Plus its 15 mph winds here right now. Swam today too and did abs. I really love training for the 3 sports. I can see how people get addicted to it. What about you? You've done a lot of triathlons. Great work!

All the best on your quest for the Kona spot next year!! Maybe I can get some tips from your friend about the course at oceanside... am planning on heading down there this winter, as earliest as next month... to check out the course and to bask in the sun & a bit of R&R in the sunshine state.

take care, Kartika
