"Hey hey! Seems to be mainly US folk on this but I'm leaving in London so wondering if there are many UK peeps on this? Going into winter, the motivation to keep up the training is always that bit harder (too easy to just go to the pub when…"
Originally from Ireland but just moved to New York, I am a keen triathlete and enjoy travelling to new places to do new triathlons. I love meeting new people at these events and hearing their experiences. I still also like to go out and fun though too.
My Tri Story:
I just really love the sport. I love the challenge and constantly trying to better your PB, I love all the gear - you can spend so much money on this sport!! I love meeting people at these events too. Although I love my training, I still enjoy having a laugh and going out.
Ha, that's hilarious! In fact that sounds like something id do. Yep full IM next year, why the hell not. Brighton Marathon in April plus a few other things. Really wanted to do the Challenge Roth Tri in Germany, looks awesome. Anyway... Work! I co-own a software business coupled with it's own call centre based in Hove. I'm certainly not the tech one, far from it. Tend to spend my working week between here and London. So you could say I'm the face to face one. I co-own the business with two guys i've worked with for years now, so when we're not focused it's generally practical jokes, which is, most of the time. How about you?
Wow - did you write this at 6.21am this morning?! I have done some swimming in the Serpentine alright but I must admit, I use any excuse not to go!! Swimming is my least favourite discipline. I'm not a member of any tri club at moment - been thinking of joining Ful-on Tri Club as I live in Parsons Green so it's very close. It's just quite a big club though and I'd prefer a club that's a bit more personal. Also, although I do enjoy tri's, a bit like you - I like to have a life outside it and not let it dictate what I can and can't do! I defo would like to do a full IM but I don't want to rush it and would prefer to start off with a few half's first...you going to do a full one next year? You should definitely sign up for a few 70.3's anyway! I like doing them abroad too as it's nice to have a little holiday to look forward to after. Did the tri in Barcelona a couple of weeks ago. I absolutely hate dismantling my bike and putting it back together though!!! What do you do for work?
I'm definitely up for some European 70.3's I think I should just get on a do it, instead of talking about it. Training is fairly full on at the mo. I've a friend of a friend (as we all do ;-) who works at Loughborough, and has kindly put together a training program for the off season. It's going well, trouble is I like to live a little outside work and training, not always ideal, but keeps me sane!!!
Strangely enough, I live and work in Hove. There's not many places you can start your day with a sea swim and a run along the beach. So if your in London, are you a member of the Serpentine Tri club? The thought of swimming in that c*** weekly doesn't float my boat (no pun intended). Do you not fancy the full IM next year?
Thanks for your message. I did the uk 70.3 in 2006, it's such a lovely venue, but the bike course is brutal, something like 53 hills in 56 miles. So no messing around this time, Im working hard to give my self at chance at qualifying for an age group team. But who knows what will happen between now and then.
Im really keen on IM France or poss Switzerland. Do you get down to Brighton often? what what are you training for next year?
