Friends and the Ironman family

One of the very first things I learned about Ironman; way back in 1994 (it was a very good year, especially in October when a young bloke called "Plucky" won this race in Hawaii and instantly catapulted Australia into a love affair with Ironman and the M dot...) was that the Ironman family is many things to many people; but realistically a family to all who embrace it.

The following year I was lucky enought to be employed as the media liaison for Ironman Australia and the very same year I got t… Continue

A Blog about nothing...

OK, we had Seinfeld's TV show about nothing; though I doubt I'll earn millions from writing about nothing as it's all been done before...

Wednesday brings the mid-week blues - you know what I mean, ya gotta work and in what spare time winter brings (you know we're just a week or so away from the shortest day down-under - or the longest up there on top of the world!), it's just too darned cold to swim; too wet to paddle (OK,BAD excuse!); too windy to ride - so it's another ten hours at the compu… Continue

What - is it six oclock already?!

A four day work week; you've gotta love that!

So Tuesday is the new Monday. Yes indeedy! And Tuesday is already finished work wise. (Well, for y'all in the US of A there's are few hours to go yet, but we get a head start on the day 'down-under'.)

And it was another Monday, except on Tuesday (did I tell you that most Australian's have a solid Irish background? Nope? Missed that one some where then...)

So today I chased dates to fit events into calendars; I chased post offices for envelopes to… Continue

Monday to far away

It's usually the beginning of the work week; but no, not today folks! Thanks to Australia still recognising Queen Elizabeth as our sovereign, (we really stuffed up the chance to become a republic!) we get a holiday today.
Hmmmph! Still raining, still cold; still haven't gotten the ski on the water!

Actually capitulated and worked! Updating event websites; getting some volunteers forms modified (you know about volunteers? Those fantastic people who make you race memories priceless with their abi… Continue

Rain Rain go away!

Sunday, Sydney, wet again...

No chance to paddle (decided it was also too cold)..

Went to the local markets for fruit and veg; then to the local mall (picked up some gear) and back home to mull away the hours working and checking out how to build a radio repeater (an RD's work is never done)... finally sucumbed to the TV. and checked out the Bourne Ultimatum... good movie!

Florian, the Erox Australia chief came over this evening and we decided just how to fix all the problems in triathlon in… Continue

Hi Nick,
I have been compiling the Ironman results for the past couple of weeks; people can now view results online covering the 25 years.
Try these 2 sites that I have created http://users.tpg.com.au/adslgbpa/IMA_Years.htm and http://users.tpg.com.au/adslgbpa/IMA_Results.htm (this site has all the results but only works with internet explorer)
With both sites you can sort on the headings for each column and there is an empty box where you can enter a filter.
I have also posted a blog at http://iamtri.com/profiles/blogs/ironman-australia-history

Hi Nick I have created an interactive Course Map for Capricorn Half see http://users.tpg.com.au/adslgbpa/GoogleMaps/CapricornHalfSwimCourse.htm
you can click on the buttons for each event and there is also there is an animated button (see orange button 'swim over course'), still working on the transition page.
