"This has to be my toughest race ever!! Dropped my bottle and salt tablets on the bike, then got a major cramp on both of my legs during the run. It was crying painful where i sat on one of the volunteer chairs and start biting on it.. it's not…"
"Hi everyone! (Amy, I seen your profile somewhere before) I am Min from Los Angeles/Orange County area. This is my first time in SG, prior year I was at the CA Oceanside 70.3. I done IM Coz back in 2010 and it was one of the most…"
Half the distance but still just as hard! Swim in the notorious Sand Hollow (remember, it IS next to "Hurricane"), ride through Snow Canyon and run on hills that you never knew possible in a half!See More
"I don't have anything set up.. just the local LAM, close by and running with friends. I do want to go back to IM Coz, but the cost and the idea of traveling to different places might push me back, so I might do the IM AZ instead this…"
"Min- Good memory. I am registered for IMSA in April, not the half which is this weekend. I am on the fence about racing because I don't feel like going there at this very moment. I wanted to do this race before registering for Cozumel 2010 but…"
"Well, I started Tri from running, so going back to marathons with "fresh legs". LA Marathon in March, I will try to go sub 4 this time. I might be doing the IM AZ next Nov or an Olympic distance tri. Ultimately, I like a full speed racing…"
"Dailene, that's odd.. I was at the medical tents having hypothermia after the race too, well plus a major neck pain from the bike ride. Funny, how I couldn't keep up with you on the run, you were just too fast for me.. but I was lucky…"
"Thanks for all the comments on this wonderful group, and congrats to all my fellow Ironmates. It was truly a wonderful experience. I have met a few people from this group during the race, and I want to personally thank you for the little chat and…"
After completing the Ironman Cozumel that consists of 2.4 mile swim, 112 miles bike, 26.2 marathon with just a sprint triathlon in my belt, I went back to shorter distances such as Olympic, 70.3 IM and other half marathon events to continue testing myself. I ride a Look 576 w/Zipp 404 and Oval Concept aerobars. My strength is definitely on the bike, test me if you like..
My Tri Story:
Used to be a smoker, heavy alcohol drinker, then from a golfer to a runner, then a cyclist turned into a triathlete. Never mind the swimming part, which is my weakest of all 3. Nevermind, I didn't become a US Naval Diver/SAR/SWCC/SEAL, but I still carry a nickname "Mr.Frogman". I am an amphibious machine that cross the finish line at Ironman Cozumel in 2010. My dream is to participate at the Ford Ironman Championship in Kona one day.
I hope you are happy with your day Min cause it was super tough out there and every race is about lessons learned. So, next time you will be stronger on the swim and more patient on the bike, super valuable lessons that many people never learn. I too had to learn those lessons and numerous others. There's nothing like watching giant pelotons of drafting jerks go whipping by while you are holding back on your first lap in the hopes that you will smash those jerks on the run...hahaha...patience truly is a virtue :) Congrats again on your race! What are your plans for next year?
Min, I train in Santa Monica close to home. My swim, bike, runs are all close to the ocean, and in it. As far as the cycling goes, PCH starting near Santa Monica Canyon going north is great. 50 miles will get you up to Camarillo, another 50 miles gets you back. The route has some gentle rolls, but nothing to gangsta. Great thing is, you'll get an Ocean view for most all of the ride, plus minimal cross car traffic.
I will arrive on Thursday and i will stay for a few days. i think the hardest part will be the run because the heat and all the miles we will have in the legs. i only know i will enjoy i, but i have a dout about 14 week will be enough. good look in ur trainning
We shall see what happens to me as I am coming off injury so my run will suffer tremendously. After months of swimming and a fair amount of cycling, I am hoping that things will fall into place come November.
