I enjoy life to the fullest! Love being a triathlete and being fit!
My Tri Story:
I started doing triathlons in 1998, and did my first Ironman in 2002. Since then, I have done 4 more Ironmans (3 x Canada 1 x Lake Placid, and Ironman Arizona). I enjoy the feeling of being fit and healthy!
Hi Michelle,
If you are in Scottsdale, you might as well ride the Bee-Line Highway - The Phoenix IM will be on that section.. This way you get a good feel for that LONG section of the ride, which you will loop it 3 times.
Thanks Michelle! Heading out to Muskoka on Sept 11...I have Melissa's 22km in Banff on the 27th then the Arizona Half Marathon Jan 18th...all of this in hopes for qualifying for clearwater in Oceanside 70.3 April 4th!

Michelle, of course I accepted you as a friend. Thanks for asking.
First off as far as your comment about crossfit, as much as people like to say there is one program for all to be the magic cure to training, fitness, and more importantly physical image...there is none. Fitness is an individual thing, what works for me may not and probably will not works for many others. This is why it is important to join groups such as this website and local tri clubs and professional trainers. Most tri clubs will have someone who is a nutrition expert and training expert. To get where you want to be it needs to be tailored made to the person you are.
Lots of different factors come into play here...genetics is a big one we all breeze over...no matter how hard I try I can never get rid of these love handles my father gave me...lol. Crossfit is a different concept for strength training and any program designed to increase muscle strength is going to put on pounds. Also, anytime you spend doing strength training you are not spending doing cardio, fat burning, endurance training...etc.
While I do not think one diet soda a day is responsible for weight gain...I personally do not drink any. Does this mean it is the reason for you to gain weight...I can not tell you as well as if you sat down with a nutritionist and talked about what you eat...and more importantly when you eat, drink certain items. I find most people that drink one item such as a soda tend to do it first thing in the morning. Starting out your day with a sugar intake tends to keep your body craving sugar throughout the day. A nutritionist can break these things out. Showing you when it is best to cheat a little and when it is not.
There is so much that really comes into play here I would probably do you more of a diservice trying to address it all. I hope I was able to give you some food for thought. Let me know. I look forward to hearing from you.
