"Practice, practice, practice. That is the only way you are going to get more comfortable in the open water. Are you planning on any smaller races before IMWI? If not, I would highly recommend finding on or two at the minimum. As much…"
I am in my 4th season of this crazy sport.training for my first Ironman, IM Wisconsin in September. My wife is my biggest fan and supporter.
My Tri Story:
I did my first triathlon in 2008 - Tri Del Sol, a sprint triathlon. I was hooked. I did 2 other sprints that year. The next season, I did my first half Ironman, Steelhead. At this point, I set a goal to complete an Ironman before I turn 30. Last year, I decided to start preparing for the big event and did 3 70.3's (Racing for Recovery, Steelhead, and Breakwater). After seeing my progress in each race, I went to Wisconsin in 2010 to volunteer at IMWI and sign up for 2011.

My best race was...
Breakwater Triathlon 70.3 2010. It was my 3rd 70.3 of 2010 and by far the hardest bike course I have ever ridden. I pushed through in the end and knew that I was ready for the next step when I crossed the finish line. I ended up placing 2nd (out of 8) in my age group earning a podium spot.
