Hey folks (or maybe it's just Jeff) have you got any updates about the long course for this race? What kinds of drinks they are using (gatorade, gu?) are they providing gels? (if so what kind)...the only information available on their website talks…
I am SOOO ready to get some big rides in. Right now I could lay down a solid Olympic tri, but I'm not even close to being ready for IMSG. I hope March delivers.
Troy, I can give you a guage. I'm a good rider, far from great, but usually finish in the top 15 or 20% of riders in Ironman races. I rode the big loop back in October and was in good shape. I averaged just over 17mph for the loop. It was humbling.…
Amy, great report. So you got flipped off from a kid riding in a car with her Mom? I love it. That will be 2,200 flips on May 1'st and hopefully a bad case of middle finger tendonitis. Yes, the loop is brutal and there are some good hills between SH…
I wish I would have known. I would have met you there. Just got back from Disneyland with the kids so I was trying to catch up at work Monday. Glad you two met. See you in a few weeks at Canyonlands!
Anyone heading out to Vegas March 27'th to do this half iron? It's five weeks before IMSG and I thought it would be a great trial run; similar terrain and all. Gotta see if everything works (including me) before the big day.
For those of you heading to St. George Feb 27'th there is an Olympic Distance Duathlon that day, the Tuacahn Duathlon. If I make it down there I'll probably jump in it to get an early season race in, then ride the loop of the IMSG bike course later…
I'm the guy everyone gets behind on a windy day. Used to be strictly a runner and did ok for a 200 lbs guy, running 35 minute 10ks and qualifying for the Boston Marathon eight times. When I turned 40 injuries forced me cut back on running so I turned to cycling, then to triathlon. I've signed up for the Kona lottery 10 years in row with no success, bummer. But my ultimate tri goal is to race Ironman China in 2012. My daughters are both adopted from China and one comes from an impoverished town just north of the IM venue.
My Tri Story:
This is my tenth year in Triathlon. I can snag an AG award occasionally, but only in the short distances. Completed three IMs. I hated every one of them, but for some reason (like after a night of drinking with my buddies) I keep signing up. I love the tri lifestyle but I do this stuff for fun. Family first, job, then tri.
