Sorry for the delay but we think it was well worth it. We have reached an agreement with the City of Haikou for our new race course (pending signature) and will be posting information regarding the new course on my web site: www.ironmanchina.com over the next few days. The new course is what we call the “East side course” with the swim in the Nandu River, the transition area on the west bank of the Nandu River, two-loop bike course, including the popular rural village sections from the 2008 cou… Continue

So I've heard on the grapevine that there's a big race coming up on a tropical island somewhere, and a bunch of you super triathletes are heading over there. Did you know that folks call my island the Hawaii of the Orient? Sounds remarkable likeness to me. I think the main difference is that here in China we don't do hula dancing - we do karaoke. Same same but different.

What's my home race really like? This movie will give you a great idea. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=9gRmDxYu4ac This 7 minute movie by Melissa at Feast Media follows one age-grouper's quest for a coveted Kona slot at Ironman China. With superb footage of the much heralded bike course, including the befuddled village crowds, and capturing the diversity of the scenery on the road chunks, you will really get a sense of the unique China ex… Continue

As described in the blog entries below, the new course is on the east-side of Haikou centered on a Nandu River swim course and a transition area (to be constructed) on the west bank of the River. The bike course takes advantage of new roads connecting to the farming village roads that were so popular last year. From a traffic control and athlete-enjoyment standpoint, this course is a… Continue

I was at IM China this year and the village roads were immaculate on race day. Seriously, I couldn't believe the transformation! Looked like they had been scrubbed clean.
Maybe you can get an about the wheel stuff by looking at the pics of the racers here.
can somebody who completed the IM China 2008 tell how dirty are the roads in the village section of the bike course ?
I mean could it be a reason to replace the regular wheel set (ZIPP) with something stronger (but not aerodynamic) ? My weight is about 80 kilo.
Thanks!
I will enjoy kona on October.
