I just completed my first Olympic tri. I'm hooked on the new distance. Even considering a half in 2009.
I'm a wife, mom, and photographer.
My Tri Story:
I've been training and racing sprint distance for a couple of years. I completed my first olympic distance race in August 2008. So now, I'm curious if a 1/2 is still out of the realm of possibility. Until now, I thought it was. My Ironman husband seems to think I'm very capable. The jury is still out. I've been mountain biking a lot this fall and think I'll shake things up with an Xterra or two. Could make life pretty interesting. I also plan to ride RAIN 2009.
Hey Heather, I am new to iamtri and was browsing profiles. I am seriously considering moving to the Bloomington, IN area and am looking for advice on training areas, groups, and always looking for a buddy to do a swim, ride, or run with. Drop me a line, I love to chat with other triathletes.
Mainly just m-bike rides in Minnesota. There are some decent rides in the this part of the state. Nothing like out West, but a mixture of different elements. Northern MN and Wisconsin have some pretty technical rides, but I've never been up there for biking.
I wasn't sure which race would be better. It's probably 10 hours down there, but surprisingly, there aren't any races around here.
That is the BEST photo ever...
Didn't know there were any races in Effingham. I lived in Charleston for a couple years after college. Not much down there.
Have you ever done the Xterras in Indiana. I was thinking about doing the one in May but don't know much about it. Is is a good course?
Good stuff....and good luck juggling all those things going on in your life. I just had a good friend and training partner complete IMFL so if you husband would like to try to connect with someone who knows the course just let me know....I'm sure Tom would be willing to share with him what he learned. He had a great experience! Hope you can connect with Olivia and Andrew in Bloomington.
Hi! Just came across your site. I live in Northern Indiana - Valparaiso. What and when is Tri Indy? I am starting to think about my goal races for '09. I've always done sprints but am very interested in training for a longer distance. Anyways, best wishes with your training!!! Isn't triathlon great?! Jennifer :)
YOU CAN do a half IM....I started doing triathlons last July (2007) and just completed my first Half in early August. Go for it! I have 'met' and 'friended' Olivia Yeagy and Andrew Roberts on iamtri who live in Bloomington. You might do a search for Olivia under 'members'....They are getting married soon at the Little 500 track on the IU campus. Good luck getting to 70.3! If I can help let me know. When is Tri Indy...or did it already happen?
