"I agree... The training sessions are superb. Transition area was great.
My only issue is with that huge "cement ledge" that we have to go over when pulling out of transition onto Witherspoon (I think) and then Especially when pulling back…"
"I try to pray for everyone who passes me on the bike and run. (It helps me stop thinking about myself!) I pray the same thing for them as I pray for myself..... Safety, Strength, Confidence and Courage.
I am sorry to hear about your last few weeks.…"

"I have used my road bike on IML for the past 2 years.... I have a tri-bike, but I have found IML hilly enough that my road bike is just better suited for climbing. I am riding my road bike again this year."

I live in a small college town in North Carolina. I have been here for 7 years. The weather is mild and running outdoors is possible year round. Cycling is fabulous here. I am very close to the mountains and some day I hope to make it up Beech mountain. I can't make it up yet. Over the past year I have rediscovered my love for triathlons. I am going to do my second Ironman this year. My first Ironman was way back in 2002.
My Tri Story:
I love the long distances. The Half Ironman is probably my favorite distance . . . but there is nothing like the Full Ironman.
Cool those rolling hills can wear you down for sure. After I rode it I've put together a few ideas about getting thru it that I am happy to share. Not sure about the banquet yet, haven't committed to anything. Kind of play it by ear. Safe travels up there. I'm in Minnesota heading back to NC, be heading up there in the am.
I don't know him personally but the nane sounds familiar. It is a pretty small town so I might have seen him at the gym or on a ride. Anyway, don't worry at all about one bad ride. You'll be absolutely fine and we are going to have a fun weekend! Have you been up to see the course at all? I ride the bike a few weeks ago. Give me a call or email if you want and I will give you some thoughts I have as well as what others have told me. Number is 828-552-1298, email is email@example.com.
Hi Dori - sorry it to me so long to respond. Hope you are feeling rested and relaxed this week. I can't believe it is almost time to go! things are finally cooling off in the mountains - hopefully Hickory isn't too bad either. I'm headin up early Friday to get checked in. When are you going up?
I was hit by a car while riding on Hickory Linconton Hwy last November. I broke my pelvic is two places. I have somewhat recovered but I am not the same as I was before being hit. I completed Valdese, Ballantyne, and the UNC Wellness Center events this year. I was part of a relay team for Lake Hickory and of course I did the bike part, other than that I am just trying to maintain and not loose fitness.
Ironman Louisville sounds great. I am still trying to do well with the sprint events and I can only do the pool swims. I have a long way to go but I do enjoy it. Good luck at Louisville and be careful when you are on your bike.
Training in North Carolina has been helpful (as you know) since it's been so hot. I'd like to say it gives us the advantage, but it seems the whole country has been in the oven this summer.
Good luck to you also. I wish I had some of your Ironman experience.
Hey! I love the nc mtns! I went to school in boone and train on the parkway quite a bit. So beautiful and always a bit cooler. I was at over the mountain this year. It is a great race. You should look into the white lake race in that same series. Nice 1/2 IM distance and worth the drive. Best of luck @ IMKY! It will be my first IM so I am little nervous but mostly just excited
