As a former professional ballet dancer, running, swiming and biking were not anything I had any experience in so when my husband suggested that we take up triathlon in 2002 to give us a way to stay in shape...I didn't realize that we were going to embark on a journey that would be such an inspiring and wonderful experience

Donna, love your story! How great that your husband is doing this with you! Maybe mine will get there.....you live in a great place for tri. I'm up here in NorCal if you're ever doing an event up this way....so glad to see so many strong women here. What an interesting background you have! Sounds like you've always been an athlete!
I love the crosstraining aspect of the sport. It has been a great journey for me, it gives some balance to my life. I am heading south this spring to do my first half IM distance at oceanside. I am excited about it. A friend I met at IM France this summer actually runs tri races for women in california. You may want to check it out. I think it is called mermaids tri.
Happy training and continue to have fun in this sport. Cheers, Kartika
Welcome to iamtri. Is'nt triathlon great! This is a great site for making connection and learning from the experience of others, the world over. I know there is a San Diego Tri group under GROUPS (which is under MY COMMUNITY) that you may want to join....probably 25-30 iamtri-ers identified from the San Diego area. I know a Cathy Zoc who is a member on this site who lives in Rancho Santa Fe....Do you know Cathy? You can look her up under MY COMMUNITY then VIEW MEMBERS with the search feature there. My first triathlon was the Carlsbad Sprint in July 2007....What a great race to get my feet (and body) wet. Good luck with your tri journey!
