"Honestly, I didn't even think about going to the welcome dinner until I saw this thread. So I figured, why not? I bought a tickets for my DH last night. Hoping to meet some people from here as well as my buds from Daily Mile. :v)"
"Soooo relieved to read this! I know this is how it's supposed to be, but reading it from a prior volunteer reassures me to not totally freak out! I'll definitely be changing outfits and will definitely just want to drop my bike entirely…"
"Thanks for starting this thread! I have been feeling so overwhelmed lately. Juggling my career, two small girls, two older kids, and my training has stretched my ability to multi-task. I feel so overwhelmed at times.
I had a 91-mile ride today in…"
"I had PF very badly last year; it took me nearly six months before I could run without feeling like a tack was in my heel. My PT had me do a lot of calf stretching, towel scoops, dips with the injured foot. I also slept with a boot and swore by my…"
Philadelphia Triathletes, look no further. I am the person you want to speak with about triathlon'ing. Ok maybe not. But I have done a few and am gearing up for an Ironman in '09. Who's in?? Note - the picture is of Michael Nutter and DJ Jazzy Jeff.
"I appreciate your advice on not letting doubters surround you. I've already had people who've never run a marathon or complete any form of triathlon say to me: "Why are you this?" or "Do you seriously think you can do…"
The odd thing is how people believe that they know you better than you do. I dont get this! I have always been an athlete and find it comical when people learn of my endeavor and scoff at it. It truly gives me more power! Some people are just like that and thrive on negativity. I read Fink's book and he had a chapter and it specifically addressed surrounding yourself with believers, those that have confidence in you, and those who lift you up. I don't know you, but I for one will tell you that you can do anything you set your mind to. I look forward to greeting you as an IronWoman at the end of FL.
All the best and Happy Thanksgiving!
Side note-A good buddy of mine is tackling Cozumel this weekend. It is his first and he could not even swim one length (25 meters) of the pool a year ago. Feel free to keep track of him! His name is Hassan Peterson. He is also on this site.
