Hey everyone, I had some free time at the office today so I downloaded the participant list and threw it in a database to see how it breaks out. See that attachment for the breakdown.
No surprise New York and New Jersey dominate the registrants but I was surprised at the extreme discrepancy between number of men and women. I guess the ladies aren't too excited about swimming in the Hudson!
I am the one guy under 20! But we compete in the under-24 age group. Also, with such a small group there will probably be only one Kona slot available for us, so it will still be very difficult to qualify!
Thanks Joshua, it nice to know. Lot of foreigns too.
Geraldo, at leaset our age group gets ten spots, sucks we have to beat out 285 other guys though.
Sweet! Great job!
Now if you could take the 55/59 AG and find out how many have gone sub 11:45 at other IM races, I would appreciate it!!
Actually I have been trying to do that to see if I have a shot at Kona..
Hi Denise - I purchased a $1500 slot when they were available so I'm not racing for any one foundation. Basically, the extra $605 goes to the Ironman foundation which divides the money out to various non profits in the NYC/NJ area.
Also, I heard the participant list would be updated with the final list of participants by the end of Nov.
