I thought the race was great.  A few things that I'd change here and there but all a matter of opinion.  Volunteers were amazing and I thought the bike course was more than satisfactory contrary to a lot that I read post race.  If you want to see a sh*t bike course go race IM Wisconsin, roads were horrible (at least in 2011).  Had a blast racing this course and would have had no issues if the entire course was in NJ.  I felt the NY side was a let down after all of the hype, most of which was at the athlete dinner on how long they worked on this, etc, etc.

I had a PR on the swim (did anyone else? haha), bike, run and transitions so I'm a happy man.  This was my second IM this summer in preparation for IM Cozumel in Nov so I was testing out strategy, nutrition, etc.  Did the entire race on liquid (mostly Infinit) and it was a success.  I'm fairly new to this distance, my first full was Coz in Nov 2010 and my return this year will make it 5 in 24 months so I'm learning a ton.  This was the hardest course I've done so far and felt pretty good about my time.  I just love racing with everyone on the course, this sport is something special and I wish I was a part of it sooner.

Not sure I'd do it again (if they bring it back), mostly because there are plenty of races still on the bucket list.  NYC is one of my favorite places to visit and it was nice just hanging out in the city for a few days, would be very cool if they could swing more of the course in the city with a more scenic/historical route.

Congrats to all who finished and also everyone that toed the line and gave it their best effort.  One more IM this summer...

Great race given 75 mile long ride, 11 mile long run, 1.5 mile long swim leading into the race.  Survival was the word for the day and I did.  Did run into Guy Adami on course (CNBC Fast Money founder) who was doing first.  Helped him out for 7 miles on his first loop and my second.  That is always something that makes you feel good....   I will take it... .Put it in the books

Great race and feeling better about it now that its over 2 weeks ago!  didn't quite have the run fitness to keep pace, but still hit my goal of Kona.  Very happy to hang out with Robert who was stalking me for a few days;)  Very odd how people on this board think the same and end up in the same places randomly.  You can read my race report for more details below.  I hope everyone is recovering nicely and had a great day too!

How did everyone's IM NYC race go?
My race went decently well, except for GI issues on the run....Had to make pitstops at every other aid station due to diarrhea issues......TMI, I know you guys hear much worse, so I didn't see the need to filter myself....LOL.
But ever since the race, there has been a big uproar from many folks....Dont really know if its from racers, supporters out there cheering, volunteers, or just people giving up their opinion and wasn't even there on race day.....
I'm interested to hear from this group, how was your personal race experience....Please feel free to comment.....
Thanks everyone for all the advice, helpful tips, and course video links leading up to the race....

Thanks Robert.  Don't forget your spare tubes/tires and CO2, and maybe insure your carbon wheels.  Those roads look horrible, thanks Ironman!

Anyone else travelling to this race on their own? I am coming from Canada - staying at Candlewood Suites.

The best look I can get on the first half of the bike course with real riders is people riding the 9-W on Strava here: Strava Segment

Thanks Brett, way beyond my level of computer skills but will have my little brother get on it.  Good luck next week!
