The results book shows 1264 people to have started the race and 1007 to have finished. Most reports from the swim have stated that 300-400 people were pulled out of the water and/or didn't finish the swim. Almost 1800 people were registered for…Continue

The pros showed up and came to the head of the line, I looked back at the chute where there wear 1400 racers behind me. A pretty common expression on most faces, again lost in thought. Thinking ahead, not about right now. The music gradually changed…Continue

As I come into day 5 of the recovery cycle it is time to start typing out my feelings about Ironman St. George. To start off, I didn’t have the training and preparation I’ve had for previous Ironman races. My current work schedule has me averaging…Continue

For me, the swim was beautiful until the first turn. Then the waves took over. Last time I swam in waves like that was body surfing in the Mediterranean. I made it to the island, but a fellow in a boat said I would miss the cutoff, so I should get…Continue

I have recently bought a pair of compression calf tights and have yet to try them. I am not a rookie and know not to try new things for a race you haven't used in training but I can only see advantages here. Any thoughts would be appreciated.TimContinue

Swimming.... Definitely my weak point. I'm totally comfortable swimming OW... by myself. Its the races that freak me out every time. I feel like I'm getting myself (maybe too) worked up about this one thing.Any previous SG finishers got any last…Continue

Debbie, even when the course went up Red Hills parkway and there were no street lights they had lights out....it was kinda peaceful weird feeling to be out on some of the stretches with just lighted glow sticks knowing others were there with me but not "really seeing them". The new course has street lights.
I always visit Veyo Pies when training. Their Banana Cream pie and the Strawberry Rhubarb are my favorite!!!!
I'm jealous that you are there already Curt, enjoy!!!

OH. MY. GOODNESS!!!!
Debbie, they will hand out glow sticks that you can either carry or connect and wear as a necklace or whatever. I usually give mine to a kid right at the end though so I don't cross with it in my hand. *LOL* I'm not sure if it's true or not but I was told in 2010 that the glow stick would mess with the lighting for the photographers. ha ha! I know...dork. I just wanted to make sure that the photographer got the PROOF that I had finished! ha ha!!!!

Comment by Glenn Wakefield on April 30, 2012 at 5:15pm Everyone I've seen riding the loop has been jumping onto the bike trail at Snow Canyon since there's no shoulder and cars are running at 65 or so. Personally, I find the paved bike trail rather fun anyway. Kinda like a rollercoaster in some places.
