Can anyone give me an accurate (rough?) idea of what kind of climbing/ascent takes place through the bike course? It is looking doubtful that I will be able to make it to one of the training rides to see for myself. I am currently training in the Detroit area (read-Flat/Urban) and have very few hills to ride. I am trying to determine if I need to make getting into some hilly areas a high priority, or if I can focus on my run.
When i try to look this up online, I have read anywhere from1700 ft to 8000 ft of ascent. I appreciate any feedback. On a similar note...training methods to prepare for hills while living in flat areas?
