I DNF (properly) the Heron Castle Triathlon in the UK: Bike crash out of T1 broke my rear gear cam and that was it. Marshals were kind to let me do my run leg... but it was not the same! :(
I'm late to this discussion but it's so inspiring to hear from others in the same boat. I DNF'd in 2008 ... And then came back last year but took a new job four weeks before the race but they weren't keen on my traveling for the race (or the training schedule) - AFTER we'd agreed to it in my interview. C'est la vie.
Can't wait to see all of you at the race finish! (I'll be the one crossing damn close to 16:59:59 :)
