I swore after I finished IMKY 2010, I would get an M-Dot tattoo... Then once I finished, I just never got around to it and/or it never became a priority.
Understand that I completely agree that finishing an Ironman triathlon is a worthy accomplishment - a lifetime milestone for most. However, I identify myself as one of four things - Father, Husband, Army Officer, and Triathlete... I felt like if I got a tattoo for finishing IM, it would say that it was more important than the other things in my life. I didn't want to send that message to those special in my life.
Not to say that it's still not tempting... Maybe if I can ever qualify for and finish Kona???
Well said. Not for me either.
Darn right I'm getting one! Only after I finish, of course. Now, I need to figure out where...
I'm with Tim. I said I was going to get one, but I moved on.
When I see someone with one, I hammer it or gut it out to make sure I pass them, so it is motivation for me to pass you guys that do get them.
Maybe after 10 or so finishes.
When I first got into triathlon's in 2006, I noticed, every once in a while, seeing someone with an M-DOT tattoo. Once I found out what it meant, I decided that I wanted one as well. After finishing Ironman Wisconsin in 2009, I found a reputable tattoo artist and had the logo put on my left calf. Having an M-DOT tattoo does not minimize anything else in my life, it just enhances a great experience and has also sparked many conversations with fellow Ironman finishers as well as those who aspire to the experience. I was 49 years old before I got my first tattoo and personally, I'm glad I waited. Ironman is forever!
Dear friends !
I finished my first IM a month ago (Cozumel) and planned on getting a tattoo. Yet I do not want the Mdot, since this stands for a company and not for the sport. I am looking for inspiration for something different, neither the Mdot, nor a swimmer/biker/runner, something unique.
Any ideas ? oh, and HAPPY NEW YEAR
