Got a note from Abe Stamper (mentioned below re: K-Swiss offer) that when he wrote to K-Swiss directly with his question about getting the K-Ona shoes even though he had already registered for Kansas, they just forwarded his email to the race director who told him "No".....so unless you wanted to write a "snail mail" to K-Swiss (that they couldn't forward) and plead your case it looks like this is the way they are doing it....Doesn't seem quite fair to me.

I posted this notice about the K-Swiss offer as a general forum on this site also (go to the HOME page or FORUMS and you'll see it there). Another triathlete (Abe Stamper) was in a similar position and posted this statement a little earlier tonight.....

The race director just sent me a message and said that the promotion is just for new registrants, as I figured, but I also sent an email to KSwiss to see what they say, but I am sure they will say the same as well.

I'd suggest you keep an eye on the forum I started on this topic and what Abe hears from K-Swiss, if anything. The registrations for Kansas and Branson must be down for them to offer this later registration incentive.

If I hear anything I'll let you know also.

Bob, what about getting the K-Swiss shoes if you already signed up?

Thanks Christine....I read some reviews and everyone seems to rave about them.

Bob - on the K-Swiss K-Ona - That's what I run in and I love them. Just did a half marathon yesterday - no socks, no blisters, no foot soreness, etc. I've run up to 18 miles w/out socks in them no problem, did IMFL in them this year with socks and my feet felt great. Just FYI to everybody!

Welcome Jason Hall Thomas from Tullahoma, Tennessee....mountain biker turned road biker and now going after Ironman.

To answer your question on folks in this group from the Volunteer State, I count 6 (including you).....Luke Carrier from Elizabethton, Lea Barnes from Ardmore, Toby Hunter (who did IMKY 2009) from Clarksville, and Ed Rusk and Joey Raboin from Chattanooga....I'm not sure if any of those cites/towns are near Murphresboro or not. If so you might find their personal page and connect with them that way. Good luck!

Is there anybody in the middle Tennessee specifically Murfreesboro or Nashville who would like to get together for some rides or knows of a club in the area doing rides?

For anyone doing/considering the Branson (MO) 70.3 or the Kansas 70.3, I just got this email from Ironman with a nice incentive for early registrants from K-Swiss. I'm not familiar with the K-Ona shoe but know that K-Swiss is getting into triathlon big now....

Register for the K-Swiss IM 70.3 Kansas or the K-Swiss IM 70.3 Branson races by Feb. 14th and get a FREE pair of K-Swiss K-Ona shoes. Simply put in the Promo code - KSWISS and your shoe size in the registration form and your shoes will be sent to you in 4-5 weeks. You can register for the Kansas race at www.ironmankansas.com or for the Branson race at www.ironmanbranson.com

There might be some locals on this site who could put you up.....there are certainly plenty of hotels in the Louisville area (You can Priceline them pretty cheap)....and I know there are some area campgrounds if you want to camp. Plenty of option.
