I ran the Columbus Marathon a few years back and BQ'd on it. I believe it's run in October. Not sure if they still advertise it this way, but back then it was touted as "flat, fast and fun". I personally thought the "flat" part was misleading, lots of rollers, but still a good course.
Kevin, one more thing, and you may already know this, but Boston sold out for the first time ever last year and that happened I think in November. So if you do qualify, get online and enter immediately. Best of luck to you.
The Louisville Marathon is October 17th and very flat and doesn't sell out. From my experiences pretty much any advertised marathon nowadays is a Boston Qualifier, it seems that is the standard anymore. Also registration for Boston doesn't open until October 18th this year so you could enter a November race and probably still get in.
When I ran it in 2009 registration opened in September and didn't fill up until January but for last year's race I think it closed sometime in November. Sounds like it's getting tougher each year.

I'm hoping to run Columbus and attempt to qualify for Boston. Before Louisville I don't think making the 3:40 would have been a problem. I'm now wondering how I will bounce back. I had a good day at Lville. 12:50:12. I was hoping for 12 but stomach issues the first part of the run slowed me down. I feel pretty good. Any soreness was gone by Wed. I have taken it WAY easy this week. I haven't run, I rode Sat (25 easy miles) and have done some non impact cardio. I have 6 weeks till Columbus. I'm not sure how I should plan out the training. I was going to go out for an easy 5 mid week and just see how my body reacts.
If you were me what would your training look like.
Hey Myia, my husband and I are doing Columbus as well (although looking to finish around 4:00). We ran 10 yesterday, will run 13 this weekend, 15 next weekend and 20 the weekend after. Then we'll bring it back down to 15 and 13 before the race. I felt great during yesterday's 10, but my hubby was sore still - he finished Louisville in 13:02, I pulled out after 9.5 of the run. Those last 17 miles made all the difference for him needing to ease into it a bit more. Good luck!
Marine Corps registration is closd, but they have a number transfer program for people who have registered and aren't planning on running...not sure how it works, but it is worth a look if you are interested.
Wanted to let everyone know that Columbus was awesome! The course was flat and fast, and the weather was perfect (50 at the start, sunny skies). Got my BQ time and even managed to register for Boston 2011 the next day in the 8-hour time window that registration was open. Thanks again for the comments and advice.
