Ironman charges $600 for these races and yes....I understand that it's not cheap to put on these things but when it's 95 degrees out, you've been training for a year, and all the bike course director can say is "we miscalculated"....it makes it extremely frustrating to think about signing up for another one and thinking about not being able to get water on the course. The slower people got screwed by the water shortage during the 2nd loop on the bike. plain and simple.
There, I vented about it.
Congratulations to everyone that finished yesterday. I met and talked to a lot of amazing people this weekend. The community of Louisville was awesome and they totally deserve the race in their city. One guy (in front of the elementary school ~mile 93) was handing out COLD bottled water that him and his wife had in their garage because he knew the course was short. Other people came out of their homes and offered water, ice, etc.
Best of luck to everyone in their future races/training. Watching people finish after dark last night still kept my dream alive of finishing someday. Maybe 2012
