I can see that EVERYBODY have a different plan for nutrition and hydration in an Ironman race,I tried with ham sandwiches, bars and some gels, drinking gatorade and water. It didn't work for me and I…Continue

I was searching around a bit and found a REALLY nice place about 10 minutes(or so) from the race site. Has a refrigerator in the room and is $120 per night!! Here's their site:

Mention that you're doing IMAZ and they'll give you the "special" rate...
This is your travel advisor, JM, signing off for now...
Comment by Brad Minus on November 21, 2011 at 3:35pm Congrats for getting in to IMAZ. That is the race I am looking at for 2013. I will have to live vicariously through you.
Comment by Wendy Morley on November 21, 2011 at 3:28pm If I were one of you lucky people going to IMAZ I'd check VRBO.com. You can usually find great condo rentals.
Comment by Jenn Ciapala on November 21, 2011 at 3:25pm Yikes. Just booked my room at the host hotel, but it's EXPENSIVE! $1500+ for 5 nights! Hope the other you mentioned is more reasonable... Will have to check in 2 weeks, like you said. FL was so much easier with all those condos everywhere!
Congrats to every one. It was tempting, but I am sticking to my guns no full distance in 2012 (check back in January if I still have the same response,)
Comment by JM on November 21, 2011 at 3:01pm Ladies-The Host hotel IS taking reservations for the race next year!! And they do have mini fridges in the rooms...And they do not charge your CC unless you cancel within 7 days of your arrival. The guy that I spoke to said that they anticipate being FULL in the next 1-2 days!!
I would HIGHLY recommend booking what you need with them!! And you can always just cancel the reservation if you find something else. But at least you will not have to scramble.
Just my two cents.
Comment by Jenn Ciapala on November 21, 2011 at 2:42pm They don't have fridges or kitchenettes in the rooms, though? I loved renting a condo at PCB (and it was cheaper, too, at $70-something per night) because we could make a lot of our own food and save money. Do you know, JM, if there are condos or anything like that near IMAZ?
Comment by Lorie Dixon on November 21, 2011 at 2:41pm @JM - thanks for checking on the hotel for us!!
Comment by Jenn Ciapala on November 21, 2011 at 2:40pm Yes, thanks so much JM! I'm sure we'll have questions as well...
