use what you have been training in. you cal always buy a rash guard that you can strip off in T1 to help prevent any stings if you even get any.
stings are a hit and miss. they are very mild and if you get stung during the swim, you will likely not even remember where it stung you by the time you get out.
i wore tri shorts and a sports bra. this year i am using a trisuit. just a preference. if you are training and doing your transitions by switching from cycling shorts to running short, just know your T times will be a little longer. if that doesn't bother you, be comfy and do what you do.
I wore a tri suit last year but agree with everyone else, wear what your using in your training and are comfortable with.
Regarding the stings - one tip - don't grab on to the dock pilings while waiting to start the swim. I made that mistake last year only to discover the piling was covered with jelly fish. Got stung pretty good.
Yes I did get stung-3 times the first time it felt like a pin prick and was a bit of a shock but that was it. I wore a bathing suit and will wear a skin suit this year. I also wore cycling gear for the bike and completely changed for the run to be comfy. This year I plan on wearing trishorts and changing the cycling jersey to a tri top. Depends of what you want for comfort.
susan you are getting all pro on us! :)
actually i am going to be in my trisuit from beginning to end. tested it and feels great. ingrid, i will NOT be using an aero helmet. haha
