Hello fellow IMAZ triathletes :)
My name is Ryan Trettevik and I'm a triathlete and sociology graduate
student at the University of California-Riverside. IMAZ is going to be my first ironman and I couldn't be more excited!! :) I'm conducting a
study on identity among long-course triathletes. As part of this
research, I'm in the process of interviewing triathletes. I'm posting this here because I'm seeking volunteers
to participate in an interview.
I'll be in Tempe November 18-21st (obviously a little busy on the 21st though) and would love to interview anyone willing to share their insight with me. If any of you are in southern california and would be interested in
setting up an interview on a day other than the IMAZ race weekend,
please let me know!
Some of the topics we will explore in a 60-90 minute interview are:
What does an individual gain from being a triathlete?
How does this identity compare to other identities an individual may have?
I know it's a lot to ask for your time in the days leading up to the
race, but I figured there is the possibility of boredom without the long
training hours. If you are willing to be
interviewed for this study, please contact me to set up a time and
location. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to call my
cell: (425) 443-0880 or email me: firstname.lastname@example.org
Thanks for your time and good luck with your training!
