Advice: get yourself coached. Interview several, ask for referrals from someone who is where you want to be. Find a coach who will help you set and achieve YOUR goals, not their goals. The structure, professional advice and feedback are essential. There is a good reason the pros all have coaches, and you should too.

Janet, I bought my first every tri (TT) bike last year. 2008 Felt B2. Love it. However, Like you I read way too much before buying. Here's my thoughts on the process. Go to 2 maybe 3 diff. shops and try out the different brands and let the Sales tech give you all the skinny on each bike. Figure out which one you think sounds like it will work best for you. Then, (and I think this will be the overwelming majority of recommendation) The fit is the most critical. Find the shop you feel most comfortable with and have them fit you for the bike, as they all will offer this. Most of the bikes you will find in the price range you have listed will be of High quality and which every brand you pick I'm sure you will be happy with. Again, I stress the fit, make sure the shop is willing to continue to work with you on the fit to get you dialed in. Bikes I narrowed down to before buying my Felt were the Specialized Transition, and the Kuota Kalibur, all great bikes.
Good luck on your search.

Does anyone have any advice for me regarding purchasing a new tri-bike? Is there one brand you always trust? I think I've read way TOO much and I am more confused now then ever. I would like to keep the cost between $3,000 and $4,000. Thanks....

I hope that is right. I just saw that it says sold out on the ironman website so I really REALLY hope you are right,. Otherwise Im going to New Orleans instead of that one. Has anyone done either of these races? Any feedback?? That would really help my decision out :)

FYI - You can still sign up for Oceanside 70.3 at multisports.com, they have a few spots reserved with a training program. Costs a bit more but at least you can still get entry..... This race has been filling earlier every year...
