This discussion will serve as the repository for group resources (videos, photos, website links, etc...) that could be helpful to you in planning/preparing for Ironman Louisville 2012. If you find something that you think might be of value to others in the group, post it here.
To get this started, here is the link to the Ironman Louisville Ramp Up Show.............some good information and perspective about the race, course, weather, etc.......
Good freestyle stroke technique video (3 minutes long)....
This is a very helpful video. Thanks Bob!
A good 4 minute video put together by Toby Johnson (IMKY 2010 finisher). Lots of good footage from the race, swim start, etc......
An extremely detailed packing list (121 items :) that someone created for a past Ironman Louisville group......If you can think of it....it is probably on here......
Great blog by IMKY 2011 finisher Danny Royce on Special Needs Bags (SNBs)...........
HILTON GARDEN INN SPECIAL RATE FOR GROUP RIDES AND IM WEEKEND
Thanks IMKY group member Claude Bacon for lining up a sweet deal with the Hilton Garden Inn (Louisville East/Blankenbaker). This is a 3.5 star property/very nice in a great area. It is about 10 miles from DT Louisville but straight in on I-64 about 11 miles (15 minute ride). Here are the details that Claude layed out. This rate/code is for the training weekends (Friday and/or Saturday) and IM Louisville race weekend (Wednesday-Monday). Thanks Claude!
I have arranged a special deal at our Hilton Garden Inn Louisville East hotel for all training dates and the IM race dates. All training dates and race dates we will offer an $85 (+tax) rate. The rate can be booked online at http://www.hiltongardeninn.com/en/gi/hotels/index.jhtml?ctyhocn=SDF... and by using the code IRM in the GROUP CODE box.
This will be my first IM race and I'm glad our Owensboro, KY company, LinGate Hospitality www.lingatehospitality.com is partcipating in this project.
For those looking for qualifying Kona times from IM Louisville in the various age groups for the past 3-4 years check here and use dropdown to select AG you are interested in. A nice resource from triresults.com.....
NOTE however that Louisville will be allotted fewer Kona slots this year than in past years due to the addition of new Ironman races.
Is it possible that I could qualify for Kona on my swim time alone....ha :)
Sure Debbie... if they'll let me qual on the run!
Wow Matt, thanks. It's good to see I'm not the only nerd in this group too. :) Thanks for putting this together for us. What a great tool for us to have.
Thanks for doing this Matt. I believe you are correct on how they determine number of slots/AG category. This race should fill soon (I would think within 2-4 weeks).
So cool... thanks!
