Before we get to far along I thought a quick way to get a good discussion started would be to ask us each to share in ONE PARAGRAPH a little about ourselves and our tri journey.....whatever (as much or litte as you want) you want to share......triathlon stuff, family, work, age, trial/tribulations, your philosophy on life, hobbies/interests, what you are excited for in training for this Ironman, etc....

I know I said one paragraph but if it takes more then so be it.  I know I'll be giving a very brief intro with name, hometown and one item of interest as people join our group.....but maybe you each can fill in the blanks.

The better we know each other the more we can help each other over the next 363 days!

So who wants to go first?

Hello everyone, I'm David Mull.  I'm a 30 year old father of 2 (soon to be 3) business finance professional in Louisville.  I have the best wife a guy can have (7 years married), the best family and the best friends.  I'm VERY blessed.  I am very new to the triathlon world, have only completed 2 sprints and I will be taking on the Muncie Olympic Distance race this weekend (sept 3rd).  I grew up in group sports and always HATED running, really anything endurance related as I was a sprinter.  Over the last 5+ years I found myself geting more and more lazy.  The lbs started adding up and I wasn't happy with how that part of my life was going.  I have asthma which was getting worse with the weight and the non activity in addition to some back pain.  So I figured I needed to do something so I started playing in a BBALL league in New Albany Indiana and 2 derby weekends ago I tore my ACL.  This led me to getting my first road bike as rehad and I was hooked.  I love the bike, road and mountain, so I've been doing that pretty seriously for the last 2 years.  I've lost about 30 lbs now and I feel great.  The running part of my story started with my younger brother (who will be joining the group any day, Kyle Alexander) who had just got back from Iraq and was picking up running.  I agreed to run the Nashville half marathon with him this year and we kept each other motivated.  Ran that race and have really learned to love running.  I've always been fascinated by IronMan and the people who do it, so I finally decided to jump in.  I'm in the best shape of my life but have a ways to go, but I am really really looking forward to this challenge.
Hi folks,  I'm Matt Faulstick, will be 30 years old this month, father of 2 and married for 11 years.  I started triathlons 3 years ago with sprint distances and complete my first half in 2009.  I have since complete 4 other 70.3 races.  I signed up for the 2011 Louisville Ironman and trained as much as my personal/professional life would allow me (never rode more then 60 miles and never ran more then 13.1).  I had a goal to just finish before the cutoff and was able to finish in 14:49, not great but I was very happy.  I joined the 2011 group late but was impressed with the motivation and information from others.  I am looking forward to sharing tips, training, motivation and making friends in this forum.  Here's to the 2012 Louisville Ironman.
Hi People,  This may/will be my 3rd Ironman, in 2010 finished in 13hr 16min 56sec and in 2011 finished in 10hr 59 min, I had a personal best by 2hrs 17 min 56 sec..  Louisville will always have a special place in my heart! Looking forward to getting/sharing info about this special race!

Wait I didn't know you where doing this race! I'm out...

hey everybody! i'm lisa fields. i'm a 34 year old operating room nurse with the world's most supportive husband (married 2 years)  a great stepson (jackson, 14), and the 2 laziest, most perfect pups in the world (moses and deacon). i also have an incredibly encouraging family and group of friends who - while they think i'm a total lunatic for wanting to do this - are willing to do whatever it takes to help me get there. like dave said, i used to hate running because it was always used as a punishment when i was heavily involved in team sports. i played multiple sports in high school and basketball in college. in the past year tho i've learned to appreciate running as a stress reducer and have actually started to enjoy it a little. the bike is quickly becoming my favorite (just did my first 30 mile ride recently), and i learned to swim this past december and am slowly getting better with that (there are good days and bad days). i've done one sprint triathlon, and have another sprint and an olympic distance coming up in the next 2 months. i'm also doing a half marathon in november and a marathon in march. i don't know what it is about the ironman that intrigues me so much, but i can't get it out of my head. so let's get this party started!
Hi, my name is David Lavender. I love my family! My wife Melissa and I have been together since we were 16 years old. We have two amazing children (10 and 7). I am 35 years old. I am a middle school principal.

Triathlon competion and training just make me feel great. My children love to run kids races, both running and tris. I have started both a running club and a triathlon club for my middle school students. This sport is full of encouraging, goal oriented, and supportive people. These characteristics really help people to achieve happiness. I want to share this with others.

I appreciate the support from my family as I pursue my goal to become an Ironman in Louisville in 2012. I volunteered in 2011 and we cheered on the athletes all day. What an awesome experience! I have been competing in triathlons for three years now. I have completed multiple sprints, one Olympic, and one half IM distance tri. I look forward to this journey. The support of my Infinite Triathlon Club members will be necessary and very helpful. I can not wait to cross the finish line in Louisville to become an Ironman!
Haven't decided when I'm doing IMLOU again (most likely 2013), but I just might get antsy and go for 2012, so thought I'd join to stay connected and hopefully help others from my experience.  I had such a blast leading up to and during my first Ironman experience, and a lot of it can be attributed to this iamtri group.  Quick bio: Soon-to-be 25 year old residing in Lexington, KY.  Started tris in 2007, completed my first Ironman in 2011 in Louisville and far exceeded my goal of finishing!  So glad to be involved in the sport of triathlon!
Hello all - I'm an attorney in Lexington, KY.  Planning to do IMWI 2012, but if it sells out before I can get registered online, IMKY may be on tap.  Since I'll be training for one or the other, I thought I'd join this group. (It's 98 degrees outside as I write this less than a week after IMKY 2011 and the forecast in Madison for the upcoming IM race is a high of 76.....so WI is a lot more attractive to me and my asthma!!)
Yeah Nora............last year (2010) IMKY was 94 and IMWI was 74 (2 weeks later).  We caught a break this year.  Good luck with your online registration as that one fills out quickly.  You can still join this group for some of our group rides in Louisville as the IMKY and IMWI course are comparable re: hills.
That's my thinking - train with the group here and race there if I get in or here as a fall back. Will be fun either way.  Drove the Tri for Sight route this afternoon. Lotsa hills.  Was hoping for something a bit more...shall we say accommodating for the lazy person in me over the holiday weekend! LOL
Are you doing T4S?  I'll be working it but not racing.....If you see me say HI (I'm in charge of lining everyone up at Lancaster Aquatic Center by number order for the swim)  Good plan on your WI or KY Ironman either way.

I am doing the race this weekend. Should be fun since the temp is supposed to drop.  See you there! :-)
