Looks like we are self seeding but still get a mass start, yeah! IMLT mentioned later in this announcement.
Comment by Jeff DeGarmo on May 8, 2013 at 10:46am Until yesterday, I had the following property booked in Squaw Valley. Several of the people in my group had to back out so we just cancelled our reservation. It's about a mile from the finish and can sleep up to 13.

Comment by Whitney on March 17, 2013 at 10:51pm KEITH: Since you live in Reno, can you recommend any routes to ride and any pools? I have to be in Reno for 4 days at the end of next week and I'm bringing my bike, running shoes and goggles. I'm planning on riding at least 50-75 mi each day Fri-Sat-Sun. Thanks!
Comment by Keith Juhola on March 7, 2013 at 1:10am I currently live in Reno, but I've lived in Truckee the last 12 years. For the long, lonely hours when you're on the bike, either Squaw Valley or Truckee are better places for your family to hang out while you're competing. From Truckee, you're only 35 minutes to the race start over a road that is not dangerous to drive - in fact you'll be biking it, highway 267. Truckee is close to Donner Lake, an excellent place to spend a few hours, and Squaw Valley has excellent hiking and 'High Camp', which has a pool area to hang out in . From either location you shouldn't worry about getting locked in. I doubt they'll close the roads for this race completely. All in all, Squaw may be best, as you'll finish, and then be a short trip away from your condo/apartment/hotel. Truckee and Tahoe Donner (a development in Truckee) are 30-35 minutes away, but easy to get to.

Comment by Rose Wilson on March 6, 2013 at 10:00pm Good advice about roads...thanks. What about Alpine Meadows? Seems to be close to Squaw Valley and the athlete venue.

Comment by Greg Wiegand on March 6, 2013 at 4:14pm I am finally narrowing down where we are going to be staying for the race and wondered if anyone had any advice on the following. I am currently looking at a couple places in Truckee and a couple off of hwy 28, as well as Incline Village. Logistically are there any draw backs to staying near 28 with race traffic (obviously the bike). I guess I just dont want where we stay to be a nightmare for family to get around and I don't want to get anyone locked in somewhere. Truckee seems like you get get in and out but a long drive to start and/or finish with lots of mountain driving? Sorry for the ignorance but I am from Wisconsin and not real familiar with this area. Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance, Greg
