Hi any one doing adventure/off road events and triathalons?

I'd like to form a team or at least train with others interested in these types of tri's. I'm looking to both compete, recruit other athletes interested in promoting awareness and raise funds for a disabled vets through a non-profit organization, On Point Foundation (https://imonpoint.org/). This group was started by a friend to help rehabilitate, train and equip disabled vets that want to reclaim their life and embark on new challenges. Check out their site if your interested in donating, competing in events for them, or pass to vets that might be interested in sponsorship and training in the future.

Meanwhile, if anyone is interested in forming an adventure racing team in the beltway area, give me a shout.

Thanks and regards
Natasha

Fundraising project for Ironman Coeur d’Alene 2009. DC Tri's own Anathea Powell, who is also an IMCDA 2008 finisher and 2009 participant, has begun fundraising for Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), known commonly in the US as Doctors without Borders. Briefly, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an independent, neutral international medical humanitarian organization created by doctors and journalists in France in 1971. Today, MSF provides aid in nearly 60 countries to people whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect, or catastrophe, primarily due to armed conflict, epidemics, malnutrition, exclusion from health care, or natural disasters. In 1999, MSF received the Nobel Peace Prize.

Fundraising will be facilitated though the Janus Charity Challenge, an organization that assists athletes with fundraising specifically for North American Ironman races. In addition to fundraising tools, including an on-line donation partner, Janus makes additional donations to the beneficiaries of top fundraisers!

I have set up both an on-line donation page and a blog. The donation page is available at:
http://januscharitychallenge.kintera.org/cda09/anatheaformsf

All information about on and off-line donations is available on this page.

And the blog (with a prominent button/link pass-through to the donation page) is available at:

http://imcda09formsf.blogspot.com/.

The blog has more information than you ever wanted to know about both MSF and Ironman racing.

IM CDA is on 6/21/2009, and all donations need to be made by 2 pm on 6/20/09 in order to be counted for the JCC additional donation contest. This is a difficult economic time for all of us, and we all understand that donating is difficult, no matter how worthy the organization or how much we may want to. There are also many, many worthy organizations and many club members working on other projects. Any time/money you spend on MSF is most welcome!
