Looks like for a full I am doing Louisville and for half Muncie and Triple T in Ohio. I will do some Olys between them all.

Coming off of IMFL I have made the statement that there will be no full IM's for me in the 2012 season. It is not the races that get to me, it is amount of training involved. The mindset wasn't as sharp as doing my first (even though the race result was tons better), it felt more like work. That being said I haven't signed up for anything yet and I won't until the early part of 2012. If I stick to my guns this is what I am thinking.
3 or 4 70.3 distances - Racine and then a few travel destinations that are within a day or two drive - perhaps Kansas, Eagleman and Muncie...
Compete in my usual sprint/olympic races here in the Chicago area to improve on my less than stellar 2011 season.
Also I did a Muddy Buddy race last year and it was a blast, perhaps doing a few more of those types of races.
Of course none of this means anything when January comes around and I am all rested physically and mentally ready to tackle the IM distance once again and I find myself signing up for St. George or Louisville.
Stay tuned...
If you do end up doing Muncie or Louisville, I will be there. Last year before Muncie a group of us got together and swim the part of the course and bike the run route and part of the bike route. It was a good top for a group of 40+ year old age grouper to get together and have fun a few times in the days before the events.
Sounds like a plan.
Bills, bills, bills...race fees, race fees, race fees! Bad news first, there are race fees. The good news though: after nearly two years of equipment purchase, I shouldn't have to buy anything else that would add to the bills! So, I should be able to enter more races, right? Do you think this fuzzy logic will work on the wife when I enter more races? Me either.
After finishing my first IMAZ this year, I can't wait for the next. However, relocation for work may be in the near term which may throw my schedule off and dent my bank account. So, I'm going to train for the St. George but will be a late entrant depending on what shakes out. Otherwise, the balance of the year will be Oly's and Halves when and where I can.
Permalink Reply by Paul G Putnam on November 22, 2011 at 2:07pm I plan on doing two Sprints, two Olys, and one half iron (Branson 70.3). Branson will be my first 70.3.
Permalink Reply by Timothy Dickinson on November 22, 2011 at 3:31pm My only A race for 2012 will be IM Louisville. I hope to have the opportunity to do a couple of shorter races nearby for buildup.
Permalink Reply by alpay akhun on December 13, 2011 at 3:29pm I' ll plan to join 2 half ironman. One of them will be organise in Turkey, the other one will be organise in Northern Cyprus...
Wow those two places sound wonderful!
Permalink Reply by alpay akhun on December 14, 2011 at 2:12am Hope to see you at that races. :)
Permalink Reply by Jerry Slater on December 27, 2011 at 1:22pm I know, the training is brutal! 70.3 is actually a perfect distance to race - @Jim Racine is a good race but the night life is LAME. I race to eat/drink whatever I want, so the after party is just as important as the race.
Showdown 70.3 here in Vegas, Galveston 70.3 IM, Rage 70.3 (Vegas), Boston Marathon, IM Texas, ITU Worlds in Spain...maybe a 50 mile ultra mixed in - tbd. That takes me through July....
Race while you can is my motto these days...it won't last forever! Set a goal of getting into Badwater in 2014, so full IM days are coming to an end. Time for the 100 milers to begin!
