Anyone else from the Carolinas on this board planning to do AZIM12?

Karen, Sorry - I am not sure of the wind speed - but I can say it was very strong today. I work in the area of the bike course and today it was very strong. For all future rides I will check the wind speed and add that to my posts. Thanks for the heads up.

The winds were the strongest on the Beeline Hwy - heading NORTH from Gilbert road to the turn around at SHEA. Check out the course map(http://ironmanarizona.com/course/bike/) - for a bonus that is where the elevation gain of the ride is also.

Oh yeah - before I forget - we had to keep an eye out for the roaming packs of wild dogs along McDowell Road - heading eat and west thru the Indian Reservation. On the outbound portion of the ride a group of 10-12 dogs crossed the 4 lane road right in front of us. YIKES!!!

Thomas - do you know how many mph those head winds were? And how many miles did you fight the wind during the loop? ~Thanks.

Awesome day.

Rode 1 loop of the IMAZ bike course today with 2 buddies. WOW - serious head wind today. That made for a great tail wind for the return. Planning on hitting the bike course for practice, at least 1 time per month before November. Smile.

@Stuart ~ I was a marathoner turned triathlon-er.  Will never turn back!  You will love the sport!

Just joined the group, Hi! I come from a pretty solid running background; marathon's and even a few ultras. I got convinced to try Tri's this year and was told IMAZ was a good place to start...here goes!

@Kevin, there a few rides in Tucson that mimic the IMAZ course.  Roughly same distance and grade changes, just a bit more elevation changes along the way.  I should be available on the 11th if you can't make it to Phoenix.  Ron

Kevin, I live in the Phoenix area and just rode the IMAZ bike course today. I would be up for a ride on March 11th. I have another buddy that could join us. Talk to you soon, Thomas
