We all have our own training plans, but I do love to see what everyone does....if you want to share, here's the place to do it!
Happy training everyone!
Quiet 5k in the pool. Looking forward to a long bike ride this weekend, will probably be on the trainer if the weather doesn't improve.
I am at a section in my training plan that has "Theme Weeks". This weeks theme is swimming :( Did 5 X 1200 repeats then 300 on the kick board. It was really exciting!?
today i finalized the planning for the trip to st george. My family is spectating and trying to make plans for them is probably the hardest thing about IM. Now back to the scheduled swim/bike/run :)
Hour on the bike then just a 15 min T run. Felt good even after being at work all day on my feet.
3 hour trainer ride and 30 min run.
Swim. And I didn't drown.
Well, today ... for 1st time in awhile, I got a real ride. Road bike vs tri bike, it's like saying - for me anyway - a mac & a pc computer. My cervelo 'slc sl' converted into a tri bike is way different to ride than my 'bmc tm01'. I hope my muscles adjust to the new one because I love my TM01 & I think the bmc is worth every penny. This week, I'll tatal 6 hrs of training, but will increase every week, hoping to be like 10 hrs a week by april 20th - that's all I can do at this time. All my training is intense & love to feel the sweat dripping through my face.
This is falls into the "feels good" category... I enjoy riding a Co-Motion Periscope tandem, especially with my daughter (it's a little tandem) - well she's 16 and not always into riding with mom (but she's come with me as cheerleader on 2 marathons this year, going to TX later in the month for a 1/2 IM - I AM SOOO GLAD SHE"S THERE FOR MOM!! and by her choice to come with) - I've been looking for "someone" to stoke the tandem with on a big charity ride in April... through some networking with other cycling people - came across a 13yo girl who WANTS to RIDE & RACE - she was in a really NASTY accident 1/1/12 (alive because she was wearing helmet & first on scene happened to be medically trained) ANYWAY - this gal & I did a trial spin on the tandem the other day - nothing hard or long - just a "will this work out" - this was her very first bicycle ride since the accident - exactly 2 months later - with someone she didn't know (but knew other common people)..
OK HERE'S the feel good moment... about 8 miles into the ride - she says in the most innocent & sincere voice "I am soooo happy right now" - so I have a new tandem partner for the next month or so - I will get the bike miles in but a little different mixture than all by myself. The plan in to use this time for her to build some strength, confidence so she's ready to re-join a teen cycling group here in Tucson - a launch back to her cycling world.
I know we all get wrapped up in OUR training plans, what's on tOUR next work out, recovery... for me, it just feels real good to give something back.
Rest of last weeks training was good : ) Finally did 30 minute runs after bike ride on Saturday & Sunday - also finally put aero bars on my bike - now my forearm @ arm rest is bruised hahaha! Jokes on me! Went to a running efficiency clinic yesterday afternoon - picked up a couple tips, tho I don't think the clinic itself with give me a sub 4 (or sub 5) marathon time!! REST today, couple days "regular" weekday training and then 7K climbing bike century on Saturday (just so happens that this training plan calls for a century this Saturday & Mining Country Challenge - bike club organized ride - is on Saturday)
That is beyond awesome!!!!!!!!! What a great feel good story!!!
That is such an AWESOME story, Debbie! Thank you for sharing it.
103 mile bike ride followed by 2 mile transition run. It felt great!
Swam 2000 yards and biked 30 miles today (2000 feet of climbing). Hooray! I think my training has officially started. To celebrate, I had a recovery margarita.
