I'm doing Lake Placid on July 26th. this is not my first IM - middle of pack age grouper. Been training since Nov last year.
Did a long run <18 mi> yesterday 7/5/09. Ran full marathon end of May. Did a 2.4 open water swim/race the weekend before and swam this distance three weekends preceding. Cycling my strength - have done centuries and double centuries in 2009 - solid base. Thinking I should start taper now. Medium distances / intensity this week and weekend. Shorter distances / intensity the next week and weekend. Stay loose the week preceding event with very little training. Stopped doing leg strength training in the gym a couple of weeks ago and am still doing upper body strength training now <2x per week>. Should I give up strength training altogether? Should I have done this months ago? Thanks for any suggestions / thoughts / guidance.
