OK. Need some expert advice from you guys. I have read alot about burnout, fatigue, overtraining, etc. I have not experienced this yet but am concerned it could may happen.
Today for example: had a day off planned after yesterday's race. Got home from work, felt really good, and decided to do a 30 minute bike workout that turned into 90 minutes on the trainer.
I feel fine but want to know if this was a bad decision? I typically workout 5-6 days per week, sometimes 7. I love to train. On days I feel fatigued, I rest and do not workout.
My question is this: Should I honor planned days off regardless of how I feel physically or is it ok to do an unplanned workout if I feel fine at that moment? Will I potentially hamper myself long-term?
I typically train based on how I feel that day and it has yet to burn me, but have read many articles that I could potentially be compounding fatigue that could keep me out of the game in the future.
Any advice or personal stories on this would be appreciated. Thanks all.
